DID YOU KNOW?
Tiger Fish
Tiger fish are fierce predators with razor-sharp teeth. They often hunt in packs and occasionally eat large animals. Attacks on humans are rare but not unheard of.
St Lazarus Banks
St. Lazarus Banks in the warm waters of Mozambique is an underwater mountain covering almost 600 sq km, home to such species as sea turtles, giant game fish and beautifully preserved coral reefs.
Tuna
A bluefin tuna was sold for a whopping $3.1m (R43m) at Tokyo’s fish market on 5 January 2019 by Kiyoshi Kimura. The giant tuna weighed in at 278kg (612lbs).
Tiger Fish 2
The African Tiger fish is the first freshwater fish recorded and confirmed to attack and catch birds in flight.
Dorado
The Dorado(a.k.a Mahi-mahi) are distinguished by dazzling colors – golden on the sides, and bright blues and greens on the sides and back. Out of the water, the fish often change color(giving rise to their Spanish name, dorado, “golden”), going through several hues before finally fading to a muted yellow-grey upon death.
